After School Program

Our students attend school all over Lee, Hendry and Glades counties. We work with the schools, families and our transportation department to provide rides to our center on a specific day of the week for each student.

We encourage our students to be as independent as possible when it comes to transportation and this includes being able to utilize public transportation, paratransit and ride-sharing to return home at the end of the day.

Goals for the weekly after school meetings are as varied and far-reaching as our students. For example, during a typical two-hour session they may meet with our Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist and learn how to repair a stitch for an hour and then spend the second hour with our Certified Assistive Technology Information Specialist and to practice finding a the phone number for a tailor on the internet using JAWS/Zoomtext/Fusion.
